HPV DNA test is a molecular test that detects the presence of cervical cancer-causing HPV genotypes in the cervix of women. Over 95% of cervical cancers are caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). Hence, the WHO recommended test for Cervical cancer screening is the HPV-DNA test. Almost all women get infected with HPV at one point in their life and all women between the ages of 21 and 65 are at risk of cervical cancer. The HPV DNA test is recommended for all women between the ages of 21 and 65.
Importance of early testing

Chances of Surviving cervical cancer is increased when HPV screening is routinely done.
How?
The test involves using a soft brush to take a small sample of cells from the surface of your cervix. The sample is put into a small plastic container and sent to a laboratory. It is tested for the types of HPV that can cause cervical cancer.

Test Instructions
Test cannot be carried out during a woman’s period (reschedule your test when on your period)
Please don’t use any vaginal medications, lubricants or creams in the 2 days before you have your test because they can affect the results.
